In this techno-savvy age of computers, everyone has a “space”. Both young and old seem to indulge in this form of communication, and at the height of the information board, the person’s “profile” that lists several things about them.
Name, age, location, education, favorite likes, dislikes, books, and other questions are boldly proclaimed across the world wide web. There’s been much discussion about the safety concerns, or lack thereof in many cases, of sharing so much with the unknown. Now, with private “friend” invitations, access can only be allowed to those we “know”…so the communication waves continue, sharing photos, stories, lists, comments and so on.
In many cases, these web pages are much like blogging, minus the uncontrolled advertising. However, I have to give a big sarcastic chuckle when I read a profile that says, “Who I’d Like to Meet: God“, and yet their home page reeks of sinful indulgences.
Blaring rock music, lust-filled web design images, uncontrolled and innapropriate advertising banners, others listed as “friends” who boldly proclaim profanity, rebellion, and share stories of their latest sinful pleasures.
–And yet, they want to “meet God“?
I dare say they have not even begun to realize that the fulfillment of their wish might not be such a joyous occasion!
Why would God want to “hang” with pictures of drunken college kids who do little but lead others far from righteousness? Why would God want to hear noise termed as “music” because that is what’s popular? What would God say about the language that is being openly used and accepted as “cool”? Why is it that we’ve fooled ourselves into believing that it’s okay to overlook the obvious, all for the sake of fitting in?
How would God react to these “adults”, who know better, and many of whom have professed a personal relationship with Him, when they are so weak in spirit and cannot resist the least temptation to participate with such evil?
They don’t want to meet God. The one true God, that is.
They meet their gods everyday, and enjoy the temporary pleasures of sin. Their gods encourage them to stay away from what is right and good, and rejoice when another “little” step is taken further in the wrong direction.
Pretty soon, they are convinced that no harm can come from participating in unholy acts. —Then…it becomes easier and easier and easier to ignore the wrong. Eventually, the line is crossed, and there’s consequences too great to pay.
They don’t want to meet God.

Julie, If they truly wanted to meet Him, He would gladly welcome them into His home, the Body of Christ. But they don’t want to pay the price because while salvation is free, it cost us all, indeed our very life.
We die so the Christ may live in and through us.
And they just wanna have fun…
But behind the images are often just lonely hurting people, searching for love, for something to make them feel better and satisfy the empty place in their hearts only God can fill.
But the more they indulge in lust; the more Satan has a stronghold in their life. The harder their hearts become.
Having worked with young people ( teens and twenty somethings ) for many years, I understand the struggles they have living in a world that constantly bombards them with sinful enticements, telling them that anything goes and everything is permissible, even to be desired.
At far too young an age, children are exposed to violence, sex, and drugs…
Many come from homes, even professing christian homes, that are broken, and where the example set before them is anything but Christlike.
May the Lord help us to reach out to this lost generation and the younger one coming up that is being exposed to sin and evil even younger. They need Jesus!!!
The laborers are indeed few and the harvest is ripe; so come on everyone, grab a shovel and get busy indeed! ( i love your tag line, or whatever it’s called! 🙂
I am so glad you are homeschooling and protecting your little ones. I don’t know about public schools in Texas, but the are horrible here.

I’ve had the same thoughts myself. My heart often breaks at the saces of those I know that are as you’ve described.
Greetings. Without a doubt, this generation is bombarded with everything the world has to offer on a level never before seen in history. Yet the words of Jesus are so true “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Just as we have an idea of a persons heart by their conversation, we acquire an insight by ones blog. The sites that they link to, topics that they discuss and images that they display. When one surfs around to any degree, a picture emerges as to just how perilous these times are. A time told about in II Timothy chapter three.
These days, I believe, are far more perilous than when I was growing up way back in the seventies and early eighties. (way back? lol) For example, as a kid, I had to put a considerable amount of effort into acquiring improper publications and the like. Now it’s readily available at the click of a mouse; streaming into the work places, homes and bedrooms of nearly everyone in the country. When I was growing up (I was unsaved at the time) the challenge was getting it into the house. Now, the challenge is keeping it out.
I pray that we all would be atuned to the Spirit in these days and that we would be a city set on a hill for all who are desperately searching. A spiritual hardness or “conditioning” is setting in, but God is able to reach even the most hardened of hearts. Thanks for the insights. Sorry to burden you with a long comment. On a lighter note…I was just doing some math and you stated that you have been married 21 yrs. My guess is that you were probably 18 or older when you got married. So, I’m guessing that you are turning 40 on your next birthday! Am I correct?…haha.

Hi again Dale! Yes, it is heartbreaking. I want so badly for the younger generation to “get it” before it’s too late. Once graduated, they quickly become part of the statistic that shows graduating high schoolers fall out of church quickly. Somehow, we’ve got to help them see that faith in Christ is genuine and real, and something worth extending into adulthood.

Seeing your reference to 2 Timothy, chapter three, I decided to read it again. What struck me is that it is a description of today’s youth to a tee. Even in my own household, we have struggled with a differing age, accustomed to the world’s “delights” and the hardness of the heart that those indulgences bring. These “perilous times” as mentioned in this scripture are surely here.
As it points out, “men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure…”. Wow!? That sounds like so many young people that I know!? It is sad. It just makes me cringe with realization that so many are lost — still so lost.
There is so much work to be done — so many that need the joy of Christ.
